How much do dentures cost in Alberta?
It depends on three things: whether you need a full or a partial denture, whether any teeth have to come out first, and the materials used. Most plans cover part of the cost. We are a registered CDCP provider and we bill your insurer directly. At your consultation we go over the quote with you, and we make every attempt to work with your insurer so your plan covers as much as it can. What a plan finally pays is the insurer's decision, not ours.
How long does it take?
It takes several visits, not one. We take impressions. You try in the fit and the bite. We adjust it. Then the finished denture is fitted and reviewed. Expect a few weeks.
What if all my teeth need to come out?
That is one treatment plan, not two. We take the teeth out and fit an immediate denture the same day, so you do not go without. It is adjusted as the gums heal and settle, and we go over the cost of the whole plan with you before any of it starts.
Can I get dentures the same day my teeth are removed?
Yes. That is an immediate denture. It goes in straight away so you are never without teeth, and because the gums shrink as they heal it needs relining or remaking later.
Does insurance or the Canadian Dental Care Plan cover dentures?
Often, at least in part. We check what you are covered for before we start and bill your insurer directly where your plan allows it. The Canadian Dental Care Plan is open to eligible residents of any age, and Heritage Dental Centre is a registered provider, so if you are covered by it you can be seen here.
Will they feel strange at first?
For most people, yes. New dentures feel bulky for the first few weeks. Speech and eating take practice. Follow-up visits are there to ease any spot that rubs.
