Bridge or implant, which is better?
An implant replaces the tooth on its own and leaves the neighbours untouched, but it needs enough bone and takes longer. A bridge is quicker and does not involve surgery, but it means preparing the two adjacent teeth. Which suits you depends on those teeth and on the bone.
How do I clean under a bridge?
A bridge cannot be flossed in the usual way because the units are joined. A floss threader or an interdental brush is used to clean underneath the false tooth, and that daily habit is what determines how long the bridge lasts.
How long does a bridge last?
Often ten years or more. It usually fails not because the bridge breaks but because decay or gum disease affects one of the supporting teeth, which is why cleaning underneath matters.
Will it look natural?
The false tooth is matched to the shade and shape of the teeth around it. The most visible difference over time tends to be at the gum line, where the gum can recede slightly.
